Mr. Guidry the chief executive officer of VAALCO Energy previously served as vice president of Business Development for Marathon Oil Corporation where he was responsible for acquisitions of strategic opportunities for value growth. Throughout his career Mr. Guidry has held numerous executive management positions including his most recent position as president of Marathon Oil Libya Limited. In this capacity Mr. Guidry was the Chairman of the Marathon Oil, ConocoPhillips and Hess partnership in the Waha concessions.Prior to the Libya assignment, he was regional vice president for Marathon Oil’s North American Production Operations.

Independent oil and gas companies have continued to make giant strides in Africa’s oil patch. VAALCO Energy is one of the major independents that have enhanced its footprint in the continent. VAALCO’s growth strategy according to the company’s board is to fully exploit its potential and expand their footprints in West Africa. Additionally, the company continues to pursue North American opportunities, both non-conventional and shale. This goes along with the company’s interest in selective corporate producing acquisitions with exploration upsides. VAALCO currently have operations in Gabon, and is conducting exploration activities in Angola.
The new chief executive officer of VAALCO Energy, Mr. Steve Guidry has been confirmed as one of the keynote speakers in the 7th Annual Sub-Saharan Africa Oil & Gas Conference scheduled for May 1 -2, 2014 at the Marriott Westchase, Houston. Mr. Guidry presentation topic is: “ VAALCO, Strong Cash Flow with Substantial Growth Potential”.

Mr. Guidry oversaw all of the Company’s Exploration and Production activities onshore and offshore U.S. He also spent five years leading Marathon Oil’s Central Africa Business Unit, overseeing project expansions and operations in Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and Angola. Throughout his career, he has held challenging technical, staff and managerial positions in the company’s domestic and international production organizations.Mr. Guidry graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and served on the board of directors for the Corporate Council on Africa, the Independent Petroleum Association of America, the U.S. Oil and Gas Association and was a member of the Upstream Committee of the American Petroleum Institute.
Other new entrant into the dynamic speakers league for the upcoming conference which is approaching fast is Dr. Nirajan Banik, Scientific Advisor at WesternGeco Schlumberger. Dr. Banik will speak on: “Target Oriented Pore Pressure Prediction for Deepwater Subsalt and other Reservoirs.”
Mahaman Laouana Gaya, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy & Petroluem, Republic of Niger is also expected to speak on: “Niger Petroleum Potential and Activities.”
