Dangote Refinery Expected Online in 2019

The refinery planned by Dangote Group in Nigeria is expected to be fully operational by 2019, allowing for Nigeria to increase its troubled refining capacity. The refinery will also aid Nigeria’s budget by reducing its import bill by over $7.5 billion per year.

The $12 billion, 650,000-bpd refinery is slated to be constructed in Lagos in the Lekki Free Trade Zone. It will have three phases, the first schedules to be ready prior to the end of 2017. The second entails the actual construction of the plan and will end in 2018. The refinery will begin processing crude in 2019. Currently construction work on the refinery is at 15% complete.
